How the learned ETA works

The router's estimate only knows modelled road speeds. A gradient-boosted model, trained on simulated trips through a city that hides hotspots, a later rush hour and real waits at turns and lights, learns how far off the router is from the route's shape, its turns and the time.

The graph neural network learns a slowdown for every road from its place in the network. It is a little more accurate, but it needs every road's learned representation, so the map runs the trees.

The same ride requests and the same starting fleet for every method. Waits run from request to pickup; a rider gives up after ten minutes without a driver. Not served counts riders who gave up or, with surge pricing, declined the price. Driving per ride is the fleet's total driving, empty or not, divided by riders served.
